Be Still Online Retreat

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10

Many of us were taught — by family, church, culture, or work — that rest must be earned. That busyness signals worth. That stopping is a luxury or, worse, a sign of weakness. This retreat begins from a different premise: in Lutheran theology, grace always precedes our effort. We are loved before we produce anything. And sabbath, if we follow that logic, is not a reward for finishing. It is the original condition of creation.

The Hebrew word shabbat means to cease — not to recover for more work, but to stop as an end in itself. Genesis tells us that God rested on the seventh day not from exhaustion, but as declaration: it is enough. You are enough. This retreat is an invitation to practice returning to that sufficiency — together, even across screens.

The retreat will involve biblical reflection, spiritual practices, commitment and communal blessing.

Join me Friday, June 26th at 10:00 via Zoom.
